Maria is a dedicated Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who has been working in the counseling field for 13 years. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Towson University. She also received her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Loyola College in Maryland and subsequently became licensed to practice therapy in the state of Maryland. She is a member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals and is also certified in crisis intervention.

 

Maria enjoys working with people who want to be healed through therapy. This population includes trauma survivors, severely mentally ill, and substance addicts. She understands how diversity such as race, age, sexual orientation, and gender can influence people’s lives in many different ways. She has extensive experience working with individuals of all ages and also works with families and couples.

Maria is known for her ability to convey empathy, compassion, and knowledge to those she helps and genuinely cares about the human condition. She knows the importance of helping her clients develop positive ways to cope with adversity as well as clinical issues such as anxiety and depression. She sees acceptance of her clients for who they are as being one of the most important aspects of therapy.
